Whether your family homeschools, supplements with afterschool topics of your own, or you just enjoy learning about the world around you, here are notable STEM themes to run with this autumn!
Fall into STEM Fun this November
If you live in a region that has a full-blown autumn, you know that there’s a lot of nature to explore this month (and possibly clean up from your lawn). While the key thing is to nurture a sense of wonder and curiosity related to the world around us, you can also grab a field guide (affiliate link) to answer some of your questions. Think about how many corporate logos your child can identify. Wouldn’t it be nice if they could name a few species of trees based on their leaves?
Use these November STEM days and weeks to guide your study, reading, and fun!
November 10 of each year is World Science Day for Peace and Understanding. The 2019 theme is Open Science, leave no one behind.
Geography Awareness Week takes place mid-month. We have a few suggestions, like sending a fun geo greeting to your friends. Of course, the folks at National Geographic can help you celebrate, too.
America Recycles Day is November 15. Make a pledge and be a role model for others.
World Toilet Day is November 19. It sounds like one of those goofy made-up holidays, but it’s actually a serious issue. It’s about taking action to ensure that everyone has a safe toilet by 2030. Clean water and hygienic sanitation practices save lives.
