Dream school, shmeam schmool. It’s time to get real about college admissions. As a mom who’s been there and done that I have some useful advice. One of my boys is already away at school on an amazing merit scholarship. The other one is heading away in August with an even better scholarship. Yes, there were a few tantrums and tears along the way. In fact, my boys even got upset at points during the process. But I’ve lived to tell the tales and share what I’ve learned along the way. Join me Wednesday, April 25 at 8 PM Central for a Facebook Live Q and A session.
Spoiler alert: one thing I’m sure to recommend is Frank Bruni’s book, Where You Go is Not Who You’ll Be (affiliate link). It’s subtitle, An Antidote to the College Admissions Mania, definitely holds water. I tell everyone about this book. And if you live in an area where the whole college discussion comes with a lot of heavy expectations and no small amount of competition buy this book.
Come ask your pressing questions or leave yours in the comment section below and I’ll try to address it. I’ll post the video later this week. A couple of Four years ago, I co-hosted two online discussions with professional college counselor Susan Goodkin. Though the production values are low, the information value is high. I learned a lot from her. Watch them here.
See you Wednesday evening!
