After hearing my San Francisco Bay Area friends rave about Galileo Innovation Camps for Kids, I offered one them a chance to post about her experience on The Maker Mom a few years ago. Needless to say, I was thrilled when I heard the camps were coming to Chicago. Even more exciting, they are the lead sponsor of the 2016 Maker Mom and STEM Kids Chicago Summer STEM Day Camp Guide! STEM Kids Chicago is The Maker Mom’s local companion site, by the way. I’ve been quietly ramping things up over there, so check out our growing roster of local STEM and STEAM events for tweens, teens, and families.
The 2016 Camp Guide is still coming together done! In the meantime, I want to share a bit about our presenting sponsor.
Galileo Innovation Camps For Kids in Chicago
Galileo Innovation Camps for Kids take place in more than 60 sites in the Bay Area, Southern California and now Chicago, too. They’ll have four Chicagoland sites for 2016, but before I tell you about those, let me explain their programs.
Galileo Innovation Camps for Kids believes that summer camp should be crazy fun and profoundly enriching at the same time. But all their fun and adventure is backed by thoughtful curriculum and a unique educational approach that inspires kids to become visionary innovators.
They have two programs:
Camp Galileo for kids in pre-K through 5th grade
Galileo Summer Quest for kids entering 5th – 8th grade
Chicago Locations
They will be hosting both camps at Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day school in Lakeview and Oscar Meyer Magnet School in Lincoln Park as well as Sacred Heart School in Winnetka. They will be hosting Camp Galileo (only) at St. Peter Lutheran School in Arlington Heights. Click through to their site for dates, times and extended care options, as well as planning suggestions.
