The Year of Wonder is about curiosity, exploration, and discovery.
I put together a printable Wonder Wheel to help you on your journey. I wish I could take credit for this, or give credit where it’s due, but I’ve simply recreated something I saw in my older son’s classroom back in 2008. I’ve been holding on to this six years. That’s how fabulous it is. If you have any tips on its origins, please let me know.
Science begins with a sense of curiosity– a sense of wonder. The Wonder Wheel helps jump start the scientific process by helping kids frame their questions. Heck, these questions are great for budding engineers and creative thinkers or problem-solvers of all types.
Make Your Own Wonder Wheel
Simply download and print this, cut out the two circles and attach them with a brad for a handheld version.
You can also connect the circles with a pushpin and mount the wheel on a bulletin board.
No patience for cutting? I get it. In fact, my mom, my older son and I were all called out for poor scissoring skills in elementary school. Try this Digital Wonder Wheel on my personal blog courtesy of my in-house programmer. Wordpress issues prevented me from posting it here, but I hope to work out the kinks eventually. Check it out. With just a click you get your question. Keep clicking for new ones!
