Are you robo-curious? I’m always interested in learning about how to get kids involved in different STEM experiences and what it’s like from the parent perspective, so I was glad to feature three women on STEMchatOnAir sharing mom’s-eye views of three popular robotics programs, FIRST LEGO League, VEX and MATE- ROV (in more than 140 characters!).
Given that this was Leticia’s and my first time hosting a #STEMchatOnAir, I’d say we did a pretty good job. And so did our guests! Many thanks to our special guests, Karen T. Smith, Kelly Whalen and Ruth Kulmala-Repp!
Robotics Competitions for Kids
Each mom presents as overview of her child’s league and shares experiences with the program and related competitions. If your curiosity is piqued, don’t miss this post on how to start a VEX robotics team for free. VEX is not the only league that tries to lend new teams a helping hand, though, so be sure to ask your regional coordinator about available grants.
As with many hangouts, this one is fine for listening instead of watching. Just wait until I learn to intersperse visuals. 🙂
