On The Maker Mom Facebook page , I asked fans to share their Robotics Week special events and the social media person at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln shared news about their E-Week (E for Excellence and/or Engineering). On Friday, April 12, they’ll be hosting a fun event that includes lab tours, a NASA astronaut, robotics and a wind turbine competition for middle school students.
That last bit is oddly timed as I only just learned about KidWind an hour ago. KidWind is an organization that teachers kids (and teachers) about wind power. Kids can compete in turbine competitions like the one at UNL.
This summer KidWins will be hosting a training in Portland, Oregon (scholarships available) and another in Southern California. Not only will participants receive valuable training, but they’ll also go home with roughly $500 worth of gear for their classrooms. Win-Wind!
