After seeing a water blob on a friend’s blog, we set out to make our own. It’s a great warm-weather outdoor activity. And it’s easy to make! Well, it did take us two tries. At first, we used a lighter plastic which didn’t hold up well. Then we traded the light plastic sheeting for a heavy-duty contractor garbage bag to serve as our blob. Bonus: it’s factory sealed on three sides.
How to Make a Water Blob
You only need plastic sheeting, duct tape, and, of course, water. Seal the plastic sheeting on all sides that need it , leaving a small hole in which to stick the hose.
Once it’s mostly taped, fill your bag with water, and seal it off when it’s as full as you can get it.
Play with it as you desire–walk across it, drop things on it, lay down on it or anything else you can think of. As you’ll see in the video, my boys were prone to dropping things on the water blob.
Tennis ball? Good!
Eggs? Good!
Watermelon from a second story deck? Ummmmmm.
It’s true what they say about kids and summer fun: just add water for a guaranteed good time.
